Digital Goes Green is a foundation registered under Belgian law, working where digital transformation and environmental responsibility meet. We exist because those two agendas are governed separately almost everywhere. Digital strategy sits with technology and operations, sustainability sits with compliance and reporting, and neither holds the decisions where the two collide.
We introduced the Digital Sustainability Governance framework in January 2024 to close that gap. It sets out how organisations should structure the decisions that shape their digital environmental footprint, covering who decides, on what evidence, with what budget and accountability, and how results are reported. We apply it with organisations through an assessment toolkit and a structured questionnaire, in advisory engagements and training.
Our work draws on the internet governance community, where our team has spent two decades, and on a network spanning European institutions, standards bodies, industry, the financial sector and civil society. That combination is deliberate. Governing the environmental footprint of digital infrastructure needs the people who build and regulate the technology in the same room as the people who hold the environmental mandate, and those groups rarely convene together.
